GOAL SETTING
The approaching holiday season is a reminder that this is the fourth quarter of 2021. Those who celebrate, tend to enjoy creating exciting memories for years to come.
I remember all the planning leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays when my daughters were younger. Attending holiday activities and entertaining guests in our home was fun, yet by the end of December, I typically found myself exhausted. Despite that, I wouldn’t trade those memories for anything.
Workers’ compensation leaders typically review year end results during fourth quarter. This often includes writing performance reviews to present to your teams during the first quarter of the upcoming year. Taking time off work to be with your family during this time requires strategic planning.
High achievers, like you value accomplishing professional goals. Also, be reminded to review the results of your personal objectives annually, as well. You may find that you’ve experienced challenges completing everything expected of you. Being mindful of the fine line between professional and personal accomplishments is important. Continued overall growth includes reviewing the results of your personal and professional objectives.
If this resonates with you, create a mental note to schedule time with yourself before this quarter ends. Blocking time for this on your electronic calendar is ideal. Using the same strategies that you use to accomplish professional goals can be tailored to drive personal results. Doing this in tandem is a powerful way to enhance your overall path to success.
An example of an area you may want to focus on could include your developmental goals. Specifically, you may desire to strengthen your character, acquire new skills, envision future possibilities or improve the perception you have of yourself.
When focusing on your personal growth, it’s advantageous to schedule blocks of time to slow down long enough, in a quiet space, to focus introspectively. Taking a few deep breaths and stretching your body can help you to relax. Some prefer prayer, others like to listen to their pattern of breathing. Both have calming effects, necessary when you want to invite your inner voice to speak to send messages to you. Some refer to this as God, others say intuition.
Your soul is an all-knowing place deeply within you. Ideally, it’s advantageous to learn how to amplify the whispers of your soul. Connecting to your higher self helps to access your inner calm. With dedicated practice you’ll be able to focus on bringing your dreams to reality so you can live your life the way you were born to do.
An effective way to begin your self- analysis is to consider writing down the personal goals you created for 2021.
What were your goals?
Did you do all that you set out to do?
Which goals did you accomplish?
Are you satisfied with your results?
What are areas of improvement?
Which goals were not accomplished?
Why were they unaccomplished?
How are you feeling after your self-analysis? Are there areas of improvement? What will you do differently?
Reality…you may make resolutions at the beginning of each year to improve yourself, yet most resolutions are forgotten by February or March.
Focusing on self- improvement will improve your chances of being successful in every aspect of your life.
Be mindful that having goals will not secure your success unless you create a strategy to take meaningful action. If you’ve never considered tracking your progress, be encouraged…there is still opportunity to maximize the remainder of this year to focus on you.
Tips to increase success:
Create specific personal developmental life goals as opposed to vague intentions.
Track your monthly progress to measure your annual success.
Course correct to focus on areas of improvement important to you.
Acknowledge areas you’ve accomplished your intentions.
If you’ve missed the mark, recalibrate and be thankful for the success you achieved.
Celebrate ability to revisit your goals to create strategies to set you up for the success you desire.
In closing, I bid you blessings as you continue to create your life journey. Remember to schedule time to create a quiet environment to begin clear the path to amplify the whispers of your soul.
